There may be nothing in any book that the Spirit within us doesn't already know - but we love them nonetheless. Think of Spirited Reading as your Spiritual Library Reference Desk!

With presentations and downloads, Spirited Reading introduces and acquaints you with excellent spiritual books you don't have time to read...or just haven't read yet!

How?

Once a month, two professional presenters will each present a 15-20 minute synopsis of a spiritual book, covering the main points and concepts of the books. After hearing their presentations, you'll have a clear snapshot of two spiritual books, even if you never read them. (We promise not to tell.) And yo u'll get a handout of quotes and an outline of the main points to take with you. It's kind of like spiritual Cliff Notes - but live!

A preview of the March books:

"Fear of death is the most fundamental fear of human existence. The only way it can be conquered is through knowledge and experience of your eternal being. Eternal Life: A New Vision is elegant invitation to find this part of yourself and be liberated." - Deepak Chopra

"We've all heard "grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, and the courage to change the things I can" but we rarely hear how to find the wisdom to know and act on the difference. Until now." -Diana Winston, Director of Mindfulness Education, UCLA's Mindful Awareness Research Center

March's Spirited Reading features two new books from wonderful spiritual writers John Shelby Spong and Eileen Flanagan.

Ellen Debenport will be back with us (via telephone and video Skype) and will be presenting John Shelby Spong's new book Eternal Life: A New Vision: Beyond Religion, Beyond Theism, Beyond Heaven and Hell

Drawing on a lifetime of wisdom, bestselling author and controversial religious leader John Shelby Spong continues to challenge traditional Christian theology in Eternal Life: A New Vision. In this remarkable spiritual autobiography about his lifelong struggle with the questions of God and death, he reveals how he ultimately came to believe in eternal life.

David Fisher will be presenting Eileen Flanagan's wonderful newest book The Wisdom to Know the Difference: When to Make a Change-and When to Let Go. While based in/on the Serenity Pra yer, Widsom is is full of stories of people finding the courage to change their lives (and sometimes the world), as well as stories of letting go and finding peace.

REMINDER: NEW DAY AND LOCATION

We will continue to present Spirited Reading at Peace House Dallas, a part of the Cathedral of Hope, near Love Field at the corner of Cedar Springs and Inwood.

Directions - Cathedral of Hope sits a ways back from the road/corner of Cedar Springs and Inwood Rd. There is a side street off of Inwood called Nash Street which you can go down...or a road just before the car dealership. Look for the big green bell wall and weave your way towards it.

The Peace House entrance is off to the right of the big green bell wall. Don't go in the main entrance of the church, go around to the right, past the statue of St. Francis and the rabbit, and down the breezeway. The first door on the left is the entrance to Peace House. Knock or ring the bell if the door isn't open.

Spirited Reading is now on the fourth TUESDAY of the month. We'll still start at 7:00 PM and be done by 8:30-ish. We had a great time in February with Ernest Holme's "This Thing Called You" and Jean Slatter's "Hiring the Heavens." We hope you'll join us this month for "Eternal Life" and "Widsom to Know the Difference."
